Rainforest Retreat
During the Spring Term 2023, Year 4 took part in a programme called Rainforest Retreat, run by the charity Delight. We started off with a visit to the Watts Gallery - an artist's village near Compton. We learnt about George and Mary Watts and their passion for art.

We then got to work with professional artists to explore a range of art materials and developed our observational and self-expression skills. We used these skills to create leaves, birds and bugs to create an amazing display outside the year 4 classrooms. What a wonderful experience this has been for everyone!

Easter Celebration Assembly
Year 4 are now preparing for our Easter Celebration Assembly which takes place at St Anne's Church on Tuesday 26th March at 1.45pm. We do hope that you will join us for this special celebration assembly. We are incredibly proud of how hard your children are working and what they have achieved so far in year 4.

Swimming
As part of the National Curriculum, all children must be taught to swim competently, confidently, and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres; use a range of strokes effectively and perform a safe self-rescue. To enable the children to work towards these requirements, we have booked two lanes with three specialist teachers at the River Bourne Health Club.

Lessons will occur on a Wednesday afternoon. The first session will take place on Wednesday, 21st February. Sessions will continue until May half-term.

Tolkien Class will leave school following afternoon registration and will begin their swimming lesson at 1:45 pm. This lesson will then conclude at 2:15 pm. Rowling Class will arrive prepared to start at 2:15 pm and will finish at 2:45 pm, ensuring the children can be collected, as usual, from school.

The children will need a one-piece swimsuittowelswimming goggles and a swimming hat in a named bag. The children are also asked to wear their PE kits to school on a Wednesday to make getting changed easier. As we will be walking to and from the River Bourne, children will also require appropriate outdoor clothing and a hat to wear on their return as their hair will be damp and it will be cold.

By ticking the box for Year 4 Swimming Lessons on Arbor, you are consenting for your child to participate in the statutory National Curriculum lessons and walk to and from the River Bourne Health Club.

We would be grateful if you could do this by Friday, 2nd February 2024.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate some weekly parental help. If you are available, please email your child's teacher.
