RSE at St. Anne's Catholic Primary School
RSE Lead: Mrs Pigot
At St. Anne’s Catholic Primary School, the Relationships and Sex Education programme that we follow is called ‘Journey in Love’, which is approved by the Arundel and Brighton Diocese. It is a recommended programme of study for Catholic schools for Sex and Relationship Education and supports the work within our school’s Religious Education, PSHE and Science curriculum.
Our intention is that children will progress through the school, discovering more about themselves and the wider world through this programme. It focuses on friendship, family, community, relationships and spirituality which supports children’s development as young Catholics. In each Year group, an aspect of love is explored where children are encouraged to marvel at the wonder and beauty of God’s creative love.
Throughout your child’s time at St. Anne’s, this will be reflected in their growth under the key components: social and emotional, physical and spiritual. Each aspect of the programme has developmental tasks, reflections and cross-curricular links. As with all aspects of learning, children are naturally curious, and many will have questions related to their lessons. Therefore, opportunities to discuss questions will form part of the lessons, and they will be treated with care and understanding supported by the Catholic views.
