Prayer and Liturgy

Prayer and Liturgy at St. Anne’s Catholic Primary School
At St. Anne’s Catholic Primary School, our daily Collective Act of Worship is a central part of school life. It is a special time when we come together as a community to pray, sing, share moments of sadness, and celebrate good news. Through worship, we nurture faith, strengthen friendships, and grow in understanding of God’s love.
Our weekly worship schedule provides a rich variety of experiences:
- Monday: KS2 Class Worship – Led by pupils or the class teacher, offering opportunities for different forms of prayer and reflection.
- KS1 Worship Through Song - Joyful praise through music and hymn singing.
- Tuesday: Celebration of the Word – Led by the Head Teacher or Assistant Head, focusing on Scripture and its meaning for our lives.
- Wednesday: KS2 Worship – A time for Key Stage 2 to gather, while KS1 children enjoy Class Worship.
- Thursday: KS2 Worship Through Song – Joyful praise through music and hymn singing.
- KS1: Class worship - Led by the class teacher and pupils together as part of their formation to Pupil Led Worship
- Friday: Celebration Worship – A whole-school gathering to celebrate achievements, present birthday cards, and award certificates to children who live out our school values and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
Our worship follows the TenTen Prayer and Liturgy scheme, ensuring consistency and depth across all sessions. KS2 Worship uses identical icons to support familiarity and engagement.
Each act of worship is linked to the liturgical calendar, feast days, or themes from Catholic Social Teaching and the RED strands. Scripture readings and stories form an integral part of our prayer life, helping children connect Gospel values to their daily experiences. We encourage practical application, inspiring pupils to live out their faith through kindness, service, and action.
