Year 5 Visit to Sky Skills Studio

On Tuesday 10th of December, Ms Dimech and her Literacy set visited Sky Skills Studio in Osterley.

Skills Studios is a unique learning experience that takes schools behind the scenes at Sky. The children worked with amazing technology, including broadcast quality cameras, green screens and touch screen edit tables to make their very own television report. The topic we chose to make our news report on was Cyberbullying.

The children were divided into 4 groups, with each child being allocated a specific role eg scriptwriter, camera operator, director, producer, presenter, eyewitness, editor and reporter. They worked extremely well in their groups and demonstrated collaborative learning. They were all actively engaged and eager to present their work. I am extremely proud of their efforts.

Elliot “The leaders were inspirational and helped us with our report. We had a great time!”

Rory “The staff were very helpful and if you made a mistake they gave you helpful advice.”

Bebe “It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I found it very inspirational.”

Hannah “ It was great fun and we learnt a lot about news reports.”
