Year 6

Next half term, we will be starting our Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) unit of study. We will be following the diocese’s recommended scheme entitled ‘A Journey in Love’ (those of you who attended Mrs Murphy’s RSE sessions last year may be familiar with this).

Such teaching is essential to create an inclusive ethos and to ensure that the children are aware of how to develop healthy relationships and behaviours. In line with Catholic teaching, we will be teaching the children how RSE is essential for young people to learn about the nature of marriage, family life and relationships; taught in an age-appropriate way.

The children will have the opportunity to ask questions during the sessions. We will make a note of these and email a list of what came up. This way, you will be able to see what the children are wondering about, but we leave it to you to decide if you feel it appropriate within your family, to discuss them any further. If a question arises from the children that we feel may not be in line with Catholic teaching or we feel is not our place to answer, we will encourage them to discuss it at home with you.

In preparation for this, below are the PowerPoints that will be used to deliver the unit of study.

We understand that this is a sensitive topic and therefore, we are more than happy to answer any questions that you may have.
